Details:

This was a project I was extremely excited to work on due to the level of creativity it allowed. The topic of the zine was left completely up to me. I chose to combine two things that I am passionate about: music and female visibility in the arts.

The main goal of my layout design was to create the feel of a trading card. This is an area where women are incredibly underrepresented. I wanted to create consistent imagery paired with fun facts. I wanted the viewer to feel like ripping the pages out and putting them on the wall, or trading favorite artists among their friend. The layout was completed in InDesign.

While rock music was the focus of this project, I wanted to break free from focusing on the stereotypical dark color scheme. I chose to go in rainbow order to create flow and variety. While the collaged images may appear random, or just for the basis of color, I chose imagery that fit the vibe of each artist. For instance, Nita has more of a classic rock feel, so I chose images based around her guitar and old school rock and roll. Hailey has a more sweet, young, and upbeat vibe which is represented in her collage. All image editing was done in photoshop.
