Homemade Paper Drawing

To create a piece of artwork on paper I had made.

Details:

The most difficult and most exciting aspect of this project was creating my own paper. Algae was collected from the lake of Elizabethtown College as part of a clean up effort. I was then able to use the pulp created from the blended algae to screen, dry, and ultimately turn into paper.

I made the paper itself the inspiration for the artwork that was placed on it. I used stippling to replicate the natural, dotted pattern of the paper. As for the subject itself I chose to feature only nature that could be found around the lake that the algae was pulled from.
