Still Life

To create a still life image.

Details:

This image placed first in the 35th Elizabethtown College Juried Art Show.

Instead I wanted to set up my still life in a way that paid homage to paintings. I started by placing my items in the center. I wanted to break the rule of thirds that is the rule of thumb for most modern photographs. I chose to do a draped background rather than a solid, clean color to make the image feel more classic.

I chose to apply color theory when selecting the items within the image. I applied direct light to create a wider variety of tones within the photograph despite the lack of colors included. The end result is a classic and timeless depiction of modern items.
